County Clerk Previews Tax Increases

David Orr released the annual report of tax rate changes for the 2016 tax year (payable in 2017), including estimates of tax bill increases for property owners in Chicago, northern and south/southwestern suburbs of Cook County.
His release provides a compendium of information, including single family and commercial breakouts of tax bill increases averaging from 3-10%, with taxpayer-friendly answers to frequently asked questions, samples of tax bill calculations, and graphical representations of how tax dollars are distributed among various taxing districts. See the Report.

A hike in levies from the Chicago Board of Education and the City of Chicago government account for the bulk of the property tax increase, Cook County Clerk David Orr said.
